Gabriel was born and raised in Miami, FL. He received his BS at the University of Florida where he worked under Dr. Alexander Grenning studying transient [3,3]-Cope rearrangements and a two-step synthesis of arylcycloheptanes. He then moved to the University of Michigan for his graduate (PhD) studies and joined the lab of Dr. John P. Wolfe where he worked on Pd-catalyzed alkene difunctionalization methodologies to generate N-heterocycles. Having developed an interest in chemoenzymatic chemistry and total synthesis, he joined the Ting Research Group as a postdoc in 2024. Outside the lab, Gabriel enjoys playing video games, basketball, DnD, and working out!
