Hao Chen was born in Langfang, China. She graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2021. During her final year at HKU, she worked on a project "Synthetic Studies Supporting the Structure-Activity Relationship Studies of M21" under the supervision of Prof. Pauline Chiu, where she synthesized a series of the small-molecule compound M21 analogs using rhodanine derivatives, and developed her interest in organic synthesis. Outside the lab, Hao Chen enjoys digital and film photography, drawing and playing mahjong.
