Shuvendu was born and raised in West Bengal, India. He received his BSc. degree from Burdwan University, and did MSc. from IIT Madras, India. While at IIT Madras, he conducted his research on Lewis acid-assisted electrophilic trifluoromethylthiolation of phenols under the supervision of Prof. P. Anbarasan. He then joined IIT Kharagpur, India as research scholar, his doctoral thesis mainly focused on “Functionalizations of Pyrrole and Indole: Application towards the Synthesis of Indolo[2,3-a]carbazole-Alkaloids”. As a synthetic chemist, now he wants to explore on the field of total synthesis as well as asymmetric catalysis, joined Prof. Ting’s group at Brandeis University. Outside the lab, he enjoys football and drawing.
